POST 5 (9): My Buddy's Gone...
Today was a pretty good day at the daycare, even though I found out that one of my favorite kids that goes here doesnt come here no more, that kind of made me sad to hear that. Today I read the kids two books, one includes Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, which was my favorite book when I was the kids age, and we practiced our alphabets. I also played with them to show them how to play with certain toys and how to put them back when they were done. Later on I helped Dot make tuna sandwiches for them and helped serve the food. About the WLE project...Im pretty lost on what its about and what we have to do, so im going to ask some of the teachers about it so i can fully prepare and ace the whole thing.
POST 4 (8): Analyzing my Workplace
At Dot's Tots Daycare, its a pretty small enviorment, since only my aunt Dorthy works there. I find it kind of better to work in a small enviorment because I kind of dont like to talk to many people, its better to me having to talk to one person instead of multiple people, having to learn thier names and how they interact withothers and me. its more relaxed and simple. the chain of command is pretty small, i answer to Dot, and Dot answers to nobody, she's her own boss, she runs everything herself. Im happy with my boss, Dorthy, shes my aunt so she treats me good and i do the same for her, shes patient with the kids and is really friendly with everybody. so im glad i interned with her at her daycare. The daycare is a "working class" job i guess, there's no offices or anything on a professional level as that, not many phone call and such. I can enjoy either type of work place, working class or professional, it just depends on what type of work it is, like I wont enjoy sitting around answering and calling people on the phone or typing up papers .
POST 3(6): Grading Myself for WLE
Hello to all the 2 people reading my blog! Today I will be grading myself for the 3 days I have been at my internship. I cant really show my full skills on College Work Habits, Leadership Skills, Metacognition and probably the other skills, just because of the type of place im interning at. But over all I believe im doing a great job here at Dot's Tots daycare, im doing everything im suppose to be doing and more, I have great interactions with the kids, I help Dorthy cook and serve food, I read the kids stories, I teach them their alphabets and how to count. Overall I believe I deserve a 3.5 for the days I've been at my internship.
POST 2(5): First Day On The Job!
Hello everybody, today it's my first official day of my internship! My internship is at a daycare center called Dot's Tots, which is owned by my aunt Dorthy, also known as "Dot" to kids and family members. For me It's a great place to intern at, since I like working with little kids of the age of 1-5, and all the kids are fun and adventurous and love to ask the question "What is that!?". Today I helped Dot with the kids by reading the kids a story when they all arrived, played "bowling" with building blocks and a small ball, and helped cook and severed lunch. Some skills I developed today while at the daycare was Communicate Effectively/Persuasively, because when the kids would cry or arguing over a toy or something I had to think and persuade then to calmdown and play again. My roll as a intern is a lot different then my roll as as student, this is because at school im learning different stuff, at my internhip im teaching kids stuff, so im kind of doing the opposite of what i usually do. When im at school im around a lot of people my age and teachers, but at my internship im around a lot of very little kids. Well thats ALL FOLKS! See you next weekend for another post.
POST 1(2): How I plan to get my WLE: January 6th
Hello everybody, I am searching for an internship at either a music studio or at a martial arts gym. I have already contacted 7 facilities about an internship and only 2 have responded, one saying I have to be 18 to intern, and the other talked about irrelevant gibberish. During the Wednesday, Job Shadow Day, I went to school and I was searching for more contacts to ask about internships. Currently I am still in search of a internship, obviously, and instead of sending emails, I will just call the sites I would like to intern at.
